Overview: The "Home of the Last Northern White Rhinos"
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a world-class wildlife destination located on the equator, about a 3.5 to 4-hour drive from Nairobi. It is unique because it is the only place in Kenya to see Chimpanzees and the largest Black Rhino Sanctuary in East Africa.
- Vehicle: A private 4×4 Safari Land Cruiser Jeep.
- Why a Jeep? The trip involves a long highway drive (~200km one way) and off-roading inside the park. A Land Cruiser offers better speed, comfort, and suspension than a van, which is crucial for a 1-day trip where time is tight.
- Key Highlights:
- Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary: A haven for rescued chimps.
- Northern White Rhinos: See the world’s last two remaining Northern White Rhinos (Najin and Fatu).
- Baraka the Blind Rhino: A tame black rhino you can feed and touch.
- The Equator: You will cross the equator line in Nanyuki town (great photo op!).
